Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

1st Cut: 1967

First German pressing came without the locked groove with gibberish on Side B; it was quickly replaced by 2nd cut.

Cat. #: SHZE 401, SMO 81 045
Unbanded

Matrix:
Side A: SHZE 401-A-1
Side B: SHZE 401-B-1

2nd Cut: 1967

The 2nd cut has a recut Side B containing the gibberish on the locked groove. This is the most common version that came out on HörZu, Odeon and Apple labels.
The 1969 reissue changes the matrix appearance without changing the cut: Side A matrix gets a hyphen after SHZE; Side B matrix is moved to the outer edge of deadwax.

Side B: SHZE 401-B-2     (placement in center of deadwax)

or

Side A: SHZE-401-A-1    (hyphen after SHZE)
Side B: SHZE 401-B-2    (placement on outer edge of deadwax)

or

Side A: SHZE-401-A-1      04177-A-1
Side B: SHZE 401-B-2      04177-B-2

3rd Cut: ca. 1979

The EMI matrix numbers can cause confusion, as they restart the cut numbers from 1 again. The striken-through SHZE numbers should be more correct.
