Both used the same UK nomenclature for matrix numbers as the Odeon label. Same as with <a href=\"https:\/\/beatles-shootouts.de\/beatles-german-cuts-list\/excursus-emi-electrola-matrix-numbers\/odeon-releases\/\">Odeon<\/a>, all cutting was done locally at Electrola, the UK format was just reused. Full catalog numbers for all EMI Electrola records now had the type, which we call here the <strong>long EMI number<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&lt;2-digit country code&gt; &lt;3-digit price code&gt; &lt;5-digit title number&gt;<br \/>\nExample: 1C 062-04002<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This led to a redesign of matrix numbers on new and reissued Beatles records. The matrix numbers used the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/beatles-shootouts.de\/beatles-german-cuts-list\/excursus-emi-electrola-matrix-numbers\/styles-of-matrix-numbers\/#style2\">Narrow Engraving<\/a><\/em>\u00a0style. They would now be stamped very close to the label. The font style changed to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beatles-shootouts.de\/beatles-german-cuts-list\/excursus-emi-electrola-matrix-numbers\/styles-of-matrix-numbers\/#style3\"><em>Stamping at Label<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The nomenclature changed once again. Matrix numbers have been reduced to contain just the 5-digit unified title numbers, sometimes with a space after the first two digits. Represses of already existing earlier Apple cuts kept their previous matrices (except for former H\u00f6rZu titles, see <a href=\"https:\/\/beatles-shootouts.de\/beatles-german-cuts-list\/excursus-emi-electrola-matrix-numbers\/horzu-releases\/\">H\u00f6rZu Releases<\/a>).\u00a0One notable exception is <strong>The Beatles<\/strong> (Reissue from 1973) which follows no systematic approach for its matrix numbers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1980 &#8211; 1985<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Around 1980, the design and the format of the runout matrices changed once again. The matrix numbers now had the <a href=\"https:\/\/beatles-shootouts.de\/beatles-german-cuts-list\/excursus-emi-electrola-matrix-numbers\/styles-of-matrix-numbers\/#style5\"><em>Neat Deep Stamping<\/em><\/a> style, placed at the deadwax. The hyphen between the side indicator and the cut number has been dropped; however, there was a hyphen between the <strong>short EMI number<\/strong> and the side indicator.<\/p>\n<p>Also, cut numbers are restarted from 1 here, discarding the previous cuts from 60s and 70s.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&lt;5-digit title number&gt;-&lt;side&gt;&lt;cut number&gt;&lt;optional DMM suffix&gt;<\/strong><br \/>\nExample:\u00a0<strong>04173-A2<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is also the format for most unmarked analog DMM cuts, production of which started in 1984. Officially labeled DMM titles have a suffix \u201c+\/\/D\u201d behind the cut number (<strong>The Beatles, 1962-1966, 1967-1970<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 though they were pressed at Teldec and not Electrola).\u00a0<strong>Magical Mystery Tour<\/strong>\u00a0was unmarked analog DMM, but had the suffix \u201c+C\u201d after the cut number.<\/p>\n<p><a Existing title numbers had a 10 added in front of them.
