Greetings from Australia Mr The Hutt,
I have several of the red white gold label German stereo pressings which I know are not most peoples favourites‘ but they look great. My question is for Rubber Soul 1st press SMO, when did Germany get the UK master? The reason I ask is that its odd that side 2 is a -1 when no other country (not UK , AU, NZ or Europe) used -1 except for when pressing mono?. Every other country used -2 or -3 stereo cuts. Seems odd and I’m curious to know.

Hello,
despite the identical text on German SMO issues (YEX 178-2 / YEX 179-1), German Rubber Soul was not made from the UK metal parts. As a matter of fact, you can see on the photo that the German matrices are set in a different font from the one used by EMI in the UK.
